| Hall of fame inductees will be limited to no more then three per year. However the committee can choose to induct none if it feels none of the candidates are worthy. Nominations will be good for two years. If they are not inducted by then they are purged from the list. After this time if the same person is nominated they will once again be eligible for two years. A person can only be inducted once. Nominations must be received by August first to be inducted that year. Any nominations received after that date will be considered for the next two year term. This is so their names will be on the plaque for convention. Three qualifications for Trapper Hall of Fame nomination:: 1.) Nominees can be living or deceased but should have been active in the twentieth century. 2.) The nominee must be a current or past member of ISTA. 3.) The nominee can not be an active officer of ISTA at the time of nomination. Inductees into the ISTA Hall of Fame are receiving the highest honor that we, the ISTA, can give to those that have given unselfishly of themselves to preserve trapping in Indiana. A memorial for all time. The following questions guide the Awards Committee in their selection of Trapper Hall of Fame Inductees: 1.) What have they contributed to their state, local and national organizations? 2.) Have they educated trappers by writing articles and books as well as trapper education classes? 3.) How have Indiana trappers benefited from their efforts? 4.) How have their efforts helped to preserve the ISTA and continue to benefit trappers today? In other words, Hall of Fame Members are the type of people that the foundation of the ISTA was built on. |

| With the exception of current officers, any current member of the ISTA is eligible to be nominated for the trapper of the year. However the committee will pick only one trapper of the year. Any nominations received before the awards ceremony of the convention will be considered for that year. All nominations received after the ceremony will be considered for the following year. Nominations for Trapper of the Year will be good only for the year they are received. They must be nominated again to be eligible for the next year. The people who receive this award are the trappers who are always working to help their fellow trappers by volunteering for various ISTA activities. Attending meetings, representing trapper interests at public DNR meetings, doing demos at trapper education classes, donating to the auction, selling raffle tickets, introducing young people to trapping, serving on committees, and so on. Rules for youth trapper of the year are the same as trapper of the year, with the following exception: 1.) Nominees must be fourteen and under. 2.) Nominees do not have to be a member if one of their relatives is a member. The purpose of the youth trapper award is more geared to encouraging young people to continue their interest in trapping and conservation as well as that kind of behavior that produces future leaders that support trapping and other compatible wildlife management practices. |

If the president is unable or unwilling to serve another officer will be appointed by the president to take his place. The chairman of the committee does not have to be an officer. The committee will be responsible for choosing all award winners including Trapper Hall of Fame Inductees, Trapper of the Year and Youth Trapper of the Year by majority vote. There must be at least three committee members present, if there is less than three the president or chairman will find volunteers to temporarily serve for that convention. If the committee feels other awards are warranted they have the authority to create them however any expenses associated with such awards must first be approved by the board of directors. All names and info about nominations and activities of the committee will be strictly confidential and will not be shared with anyone outside of the awards committee. The year's Hall of Fame inductees, Trapper of the Year and Youth Trapper of the Year will be announced at the awards ceremony either at the membership meeting or before the auction depending on the convention schedule for that year. Note: Current officers are not eligible because we do not want to appear to be patting ourselves on the back. All award winners will receive a plaque with their name as well as having their name put on a plaque of the same title containing all of the past recipients, which will remain with the ISTA to be displayed at the ISTA booth at the convention as well as any other appropriate ISTA function. The year will be from convention to convention. |
